Don’t worry we want to put your fears at rest by taking the time to build your confidence and understanding in a relaxed no pressure atmosphere.

The course aims to provide the essential skills set and knowledge that will enable first aiders to deal confidently with a workplace emergency.

A continuous assessment takes place throughout the day. We want each student to be confident so there is plenty of hands-on experience to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills.

Although the qualification lasts for three years, it is advisable to refresh your skills set on an annual basis.

You can do this with other staff members or by booking a 2/3-hour session.

Emergency First Aid at Work Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide the underpinning knowledge and practical skills set required by trained first aiders to deal confidently with a situation at work.

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

Course Content

 Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
 Incident Management
 Legislation, Accident book and first aid boxes
 Provide first aid in a number of situations
 Immediate Action (Primary survey)
 Unresponsive Casualty
 Secondary Assessment (DOTS)
 Recovery position
 Resuscitation & Defibrillation (AED)
 Choking casualty
 Fainting
 Wounds and Bleeding
 Epilepsy
 Seizures
 Minor Burns and Scalds
 Minor Injuries
 Additional modules can be added (give us a call to discuss)

Who will Benefit from the course?

 Suitable for those employees who have volunteered or been nominated by their employer to represent
the organisation as a trained emergency first aider, no prior first aid knowledge is needed.
 Or if you just want to have a basic understanding of first aid to help the family or friends.
 If you are in doubt call us to discuss your first aid needs.

Assessment Process

– Assessment is ongoing by the instructor/assessor during the course, each student will have plenty of hands-on experience to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills in a relaxed atmosphere. Most of the time you will be tested and not even realise it.

Number

 The maximum of 12 students can be accommodated, however this is dependent on the site and
classroom.
 Minimum age for this course is 14 years old (please speak to us if learners are under this age)
 During COVID the maximum number of students is 8, again this is dependent on site and classroom.
 An assessment will be conducted prior to going firm on numbers

Certification

Whilst the qualification lasts for 3 years it is highly advisable to refresh your skills set on an annual basis. You can do this with other staff or book a 2/3-hour session.
